Knoll Drive Homeless Shelter

AKA believes that everybody deserves safe and comfortable shelter. Designing for the homeless, society's most venerable, is challenging and worthwhile.  Working in close partnership with all stakeholders, AKA adapted the ground floor of an unused office building to serve as a permanent shelter. AKA turned the original dark and outdated space into a welcoming and comfortable shelter for the residents, with bright and efficient workspace for the staff.

 

The shelter includes sleeping, dining and gathering rooms, space for treasured pets, and office space for staff.

​Work in Progress - Recuperative Care Facility

​

AKA is working on additional space to provide a recuperative care facility in the upper floors of the same building. This additional adaptive reuse space will provide nursing offices and treatment rooms, beds for healing, community and patio space, and staff offices.
